Alexander Pope's Edition of Shakespeare:
An Introduction
By A.D.J. Brown, B.A., Ph.D. (Bristol)
This is a study of Alexander Pope's edition of Shakespeare (the 1725 edition is pictured above) that was submitted as a Ph.D. thesis to the University of Bristol in 1994. The degree was awarded in 1995.
The Ph.D. was supervised by Dr Tom Mason and examined by Professor David Hopkins and Dr Fred Parker, who encouraged me to consider publishing it. However my life has since taken me away from the study of English, and so rather than leave this work to moulder on a hard disc, I am making it freely available here under open licensing terms.
